As the story turns…

No not a new soap opera, just letting my brain build a decent buffer before I start reposting, and some stories are going to be reworked.  I am also still healing from my surgery too.  I haven’t forgotten.  I just have to write as I feel the mood for it.

Recovery…

I apologize for the Hiatus. I had Testicular Cancer and has to have the diseased one removed. It was done outpatient and I am quietly recovering from it and hopefully forming ideas for future posts.

Ciao for now!

I won’t do a disservice to my readers…

I apologize for the delay.

I have been working hard and steadily to get something that is clear and concise.  I am a writer first and foremost and an entertainer second.  If my stories don’t reach out and grab you and won’t let you go.  I haven’t done my job right.  If they come off as choppy and illogical I haven’t done my job right.

For all my opinions and rants about lackluster writing.  I want to practice what I spew and opine about.  I am volcano of thought an ideas.  They need control and to be put in a box.  I have ideas for stories and sometimes they are not always what I write about.  I am reviewing and going to reedit a great deal of the other stories, once I get Nighthawk situated.

This is one of those days that sometimes I realize art and entertainment can’t be hurried as much as I try.  What I am trying to do is create a buffer for myself so that I won’t get in a hurry to rush things but still be on a time limit of what gets done.  I have candidates for this site and Mystic Ruins Scroll.  I have to create a buffer so that way I won’t rush and ruin something.  I am trying to write in such away that the chapters end naturally and carry over.  It is part of a larger goal to leave cliff hangers.  Its not done deliberately but as a way to keep chapters short snappy.

I can’t afford a writer’s block, it to is a disservice to my readers and to me as well.  It is a very destructive to the stories as well.  Especially if I’ve gone wrong somewhere and can’t find it.  I am very careful about my writing, and I am also not going to hold back, just because it is a draft.  I have always found away to create a scene that you can almost touch food you can almost taste.  Because I am a rare person who has scar tissue in his nose, I use my other four senses more and because of my poor eye sight (I wear corrective lenses),  I have developed away to know a world with only the occasional smell.  It is hard for me to describe a scent through smell because, my sense of smell doesn’t always work if at all.  It is the sense I lack in someways and sometimes I can smell it depends on how strong the smell is.  Anyway.  I use texture to convey a scent when I write about food.  Atmospheric smells I find more difficult.  That is a handicap I am still working to overcome.  I think I find it in the way I use words to convey scent and the atmosphere of the scene without actually saying smell.

Again sorry for the tangent.  I won’t do a disservice to my readers because I am in a hurry to post things.

Ciao for now! Later ~ 🙂 ~

When Books Attack…film at 11

People dodging flying books anyone?  Uh no takers cool…

Every now and then I get on this kick of think that some inanimate object should be injected with magic to come to life, early in hobby it was trees that fought back.

Axe man gets near a pine tree and the tree grabs the axe from the axe man…

For some reason I think when a tome is injected with magic, it either takes the person in a figurative sense or comes alive and attacks the person..

I know that I’m male and have no business reading romance, well the normal variety anyway, yuck.  I like to sink my teeth into, no pun intended, paranormal Romance.  I noticed I like it when the supernatural got busy under the covers.  I recognized when I wrote this crazy scene a long time ago, my main character was practically a ghost, I forgot what reason.  He was hovering over his wife, and they managed to do things, my brain didn’t think physically possible.

It was ethereal and surreal and total shock to my system.  I was new to the whole writing as hobby learning how to weave seamless romance into my work.  I have found that working with the yin and yang of male and female adds a certain twist to my writings, more than just romance, men and women solve problems differently.  Also it is a matter of comfort, and knowing about male and female relationships and watching and learning how people develop close intimate relationships.

Anyhow, reading paranormal Romance helps with this learning curve in its own unique way.  I like it when Romance bites, sorry I can’t resist it.  I don’t go for boy and girl meet then fall in love and live happily ever after.  No it doesn’t work that way.  So into the dark I go.  I have read some of the Dark Series by Christine Feehan and enjoyed them.  I have started Anita Blake Series, that is a little hard for me to read being first person female point of view.  Well today after hunting near a year for I order the first of the Savannah Vampire series, Raven Hart.

So far first person male point of view.  I am enjoying it.  It fills that I am a Vampire.  I bite, I am dangerous and dark demon.  Both cursed and blessed by immortality.  It’s the sweetness of a vampire being a vampire, not walking the day, but the dead of night.  It is Vampire.

So far I have enjoyed it.  I love the city of Savannah, I live four hours away from it.  This piece of fiction is intoxicating.  Its like the music of the night.

It is one of those rare occasions, I find so hard to find in Fantasy, other than Brandon Sanderson, more on that in another more Fantasy-esque post for another day.  It literally sucks you in and won’t let you go.  I find it so hard that when my bar for reading is so high to find things I enjoy.

So as I go further, I won’t ruin but I will see if I remember to give complete review of it when I am done reading it.

I love my eclectic taste in reading.  It is much like my eclectic taste in music.

I am currently overhauling Nighthawk: Case of the Fallen Owl. I mean a complete overhaul. I saw too many plot holes.
Daemon: A Supernatural Earth and Requiem of Worlds are also been changed a little, not in context of story but a break, into smaller chapters. Each story, is getting its own page when I have an equal amount of chapters between the three here. Also during this overhaul I am getting one of my reproductive organs removed. My right little man, because it got cancer and I have to have it removed because #1 CANCER #2 Its uncomfortable to carry around weight that men are not naturally made to carry downstairs. I am diligently working to get the stories the way I like them. I’m sorry for the delay and the cause of dismay. I hope I get it resolved soon. Its one of those things, I have to develop the characters right, because I am an experience writer and I don’t want to get it wrong.

Focusing on Genre

When someone writes, genre is not always apparent and sometimes, it is a necessity.  It is a way to focus marketing when you go to publish stories.  Genre is malleable box that can be changed and redefined.  When you write it is always a good idea of course, to have one in mind if it changes that is okay.

Fiction writing is meant to be organic and a growth of imagination.  One of the genres I focus on is Fantasy.  The way I approach it is, it is the literature of the impossible.  So all of my fiction can be grouped into fantasy.  They are mere flights of fancy.  They more than just what if, they bouts of realism mixed with the mystical.  Grounded in basic physics and human limits.  The supernatural have their place in these stories.  The one key difference is that they are dangerous and yet mysterious.

In my own experience just staying in one defined genre doesn’t work well with my stories.  I have to throw in elements from all different genres.  It still comes out better than one focal point.  But the main genre is fantasy.  So pick whatever genre best suits your story and go from there.  Organic story growth is a sweet, it takes you in unexpected directions.

Find a focus and go from there and see where imagination runs with you.

Please Pardon the Construction…

I am doing some major reconstruction on the Mystic Ruins Parchment.  The stories have been taken down and are getting reworked into smaller manageable chunks.
